Review: 12-Foot Camo Tarp with Doors for Hammock Camping

I’ve been using this 12-foot camouflage tarp exclusively for hammock camping, and it has quickly become my go-to shelter. I originally purchased it because of one standout feature: the doors that you can close at each end. This design offers a level of privacy and weather protection that’s hard to beat.

Versatility and Setup

The tarp is incredibly versatile. With bungee cords, you can easily attach the ends of the tarp to the opposing guy lines, effectively sealing off the ends and creating a cozy, enclosed space. This not only keeps out wind and rain but also provides extra privacy—something I really appreciate at busy campsites.

You can further enhance the space under the tarp by using tarp poles (sold separately) to extend its width, or by improvising with guylines or even walking sticks. Whether you want a low, stealthy setup or a more spacious shelter, this tarp adapts easily to your needs.

Weight and Portability

Despite its generous size, the tarp is lightweight and packs down small, making it ideal for backpacking and hammock camping. I’ve never found it to be a burden in my pack.

Durability and Design

The camo print is a nice touch for blending into natural surroundings, and the material feels robust enough to withstand repeated use in various weather conditions. The stitching and reinforcements at stress points are solid, giving me confidence that it will last for many seasons.

Downsides

Honestly, I’ve tried to think of a downside to this tarp, but I haven’t found one yet. It performs exactly as I hoped and has exceeded my expectations in terms of versatility and protection.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a reliable, adaptable tarp for hammock camping—especially one with doors for extra privacy and weather protection—I highly recommend this model. It’s lightweight, easy to set up in multiple ways, and has become an essential part of my camping gear.

Rating: 5/5 – My go-to tarp for hammock camping!
